On Day 3 of NYFW I entered the Theatre at Lincoln Center to view the MONIQUE LHUILLIER show with friends. We took our seats as the lights lowered and one by one the models began to emerge through a floral printed silk screen. Out came looks full of chiffon, Chantilly lace, and organza in bright hues balanced out with soft gold and nude tones. Even from my seat, it was easy to see the intricacies and details of the delicate fabrics as they floated down the runway. It was a Love affair in motion. I have to say that the Spring/Summer 2014 collection was just as romantic and elegant as you would expect from LHUILLIER.
I loved so many of the frocks, but my favorite, look number 23. An orchid silk linen gazar bandeau paired with a persimmon silk gazar draped ball skirt. It was strapless, vibrant, and you just had to see the way it moved... Show notes labeled this look "a new interpretation of traditional eveningwear". I thought it was perfect.
After the show, I was able to squeeze in a quick word with Lhuillier. I told her how much I loved the show and how beautiful I thought all the pieces were. In the few short words we shared amongst the chaos of backstage, it was easy to tell that Lhuillier is just as lovely as the clothes she designs.
