On Monday night I attended a fashionable soirée at the Chloé boutique on Madison Avenue. ClareWaight Keller was in town to present the new 2015 Resort collection and to host the reopening of their flagship. The two story store has recently been remodeled to include a cement spiral staircase, gold hardware aplenty, and a full assortment of CHLOE products. Strategic spotlights hanging from tracks give the store an overall ethereal feeling. It sort of creates a romantic shopping experience.
A bevy of partygoers, most clad in Chloé apparel, all came to celebrate and mingle with a fashionable crowd. There was champagne, music by DJ Vashtie, and goat cheese cake with an almond crust. The server told me it was gluten free. I took his word for it. Waight Keller was the hostess for the evening and everyone was vying for her attention.I did manage to introduce myself and ask her a few important questions. "What was your favorite look from the new Resort collection?" She told me it was the one she was presently wearing; a below the knee cobalt blue wrap skirt and an elongated black and green striped sweater. The designer says it's "pretty much her everyday look for the office." Her chic ensemble is featured in look number 24. I found her to be quite lovely and friendly and in my opinion, this makes the clothing she designs even more beautiful. The overall look of the collection was tall and lean with graphic styles and a few prints thrown in for good measure. Dare I say it's her best work yet?
At the end of the night guests were given small white gift bags tied with ribbon. The bags contained a pair of CARLINA sunglasses, the very same ones featured in the Spring / Summer 2014 campaign. They came in a white leather pouch with a gold zipper and just in time for the summer. It seems Waight Keller wants all of us to be #chloeGIRLS...
